REIKI STORIES
PONGO'S STORY
In May 2006, about a week after finishing my master level training in
Reiki, my 14 year old cat Pongo was diagnosed with a very
advanced case of cancer. Even at that advanced stage, he showed
very few signs of illness. He left this plane of existence two short
weeks later.
Pongo had been receiving Reiki treatments from me for three
months prior to his diagnosis, as I began and advanced in my
training. I believe that the reason I was drawn to Reiki was to help
him in his transition, even though I had no idea at the time that he
was even sick.
This story illustrates how Reiki energy always goes towards the
highest good of the recipient. Obviously, as his “mom”, I would
have preferred that Reiki would have helped to heal his cancer so
he could have been with us much longer. I believed he still had
many years left to torment my husband! But we don’t always know
what is for the highest good. Reiki helped make him more
comfortable in his final months and especially his final days. This
was his highest good.
